Dundas, Queen, King and Union TTC Stations Receive Wireless Connection

(Toronto, ON) November 28, 2014: BAI Canada has reached another milestone by extending TCONNECT TTC subway Wi-Fi service and cellular connectivity to Dundas, Queen, King and Union subway stations, part of eleven (11) TTC stations to receive wireless service since the initial launch in December 2013 – eight (8) on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) and three (3) on Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth).

BAI Canada is well on their way to provide wireless services and cellular capability to eighteen (18) TTC subway stations encompassing the lower loop plus Spadina station by Q1 2015, ahead of the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan AM Games. All sixty-five (65) stations will have Wi-Fi service and be cellular ready by 2017.

“The completion of Dundas, Queen, King and Union is extremely exciting for us” said Ken Ranger, CEO, BAI Canada. “TTC riders can access the free subway Wi-Fi, branded TCONNECT at all connected stations. The stations are also built and ready for cellular providers to easily join our network which would provide the rider an enhanced connection on the go”

The Wi-Fi service will also be used for a range of content delivery, passenger information, business enterprise, transit and M2M applications.

BAI Canada will continue to design, build, operate and maintain the expanding network for the duration of the 20+ year contract with the TTC. At completion, the entire project will cover all public areas including platforms, mezzanines, walkways and tunnels within the 65 current and planned underground stations.

BAI Canada works with brands through a sponsored Wi-Fi arrangement to ensure that the TCONNECT Wi-Fi service is completely free to the public.

The TCONNECT network has seen 350,000 welcome page views in the last 30 days and has transmitted 5.5 Terabytes of data – all representing traffic to and from the internet. To connect customers can select SSID: TCONNECT on their W-Fi equipped device, and in their browser click “CONNECT” on the TCONNECT welcome page.
